It is becoming increasingly obvious we need to select for both meat and wool traits in our merino sheep for income protection and to remain viable in the future.

In any sheep population there is only ever a few superior sires capable of lifting production across a wide range of characteristics.

By targeting those sires and using Alan Dyer's Cervical Artificial Insemination (CAI) service, we are lifting production for both meat and wool, and those superior genes are being expressed in the complete lamb drop in one season.

The fastest way to ensure genetic gain is to mate all sheep on an individual basis. Via Alan Dyer's service we have made dramatic progress in a very short period.

We have been able to spread one ram over 800 ewes and mate maidens at 12 months of age. Conception rates were equal to or better than conception rates naturally in the first cycle.

In using CAI you can use the best genetics available at an affordable price.
Eg: $3000 ram over 600 ewes = $5 per ewe mated verses a $500 flock ram over 50 ewes which equals $10 per ewe mated.

Even with the CAI cost you have saved dollars and have a huge genetic gain rather than just a lamb.

Alan and his CAI service is extremely professional and if you are serious about your sheep, regardless of type, this is the best way to improve your bottom line in a very short period.

We have been working with Alan and his professional team for the last three years and have found that the programme works really well.

It's enabled us to use all of our best performing sires over a large number of ewes, therfore our genetic gain is greater.

We progeny test quite a lot of young sires each year, some around 5 to 6 months of age, so to get scanning percentages of around 70% using immature semen is an excellent result.

The per head costs of Alan's programmes are very competitive, which most stud and commercial breeders would find very attractive when contemplating the introduction of superior genetics to larger flocks.
